What do you know about sharks?  Where did you learn the information that you know about animals?  What stories have you heard about sharks?  What is your opinion of these underwater creatures?

Are People Paid Fairly?

My question to you after looking at the varying amounts of salary Americans are being paid is are people being paid fairly?  Why or why not? 

Social Media

Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) has seen a huge increase in the number of people using it to communicate, with over 500 million users on Facebook alone.  What are some of the pros and cons of America's addiction to social media?

1st Paragraph:
Richard Wright was forced to assume adult responsibilities at an early age due to an unavoidable family crisis.

2nd Paragraph:
Several shocking changes in his mother's behavior let Richard know the rules were suddenly different.

3rd Paragraph:
Because Richard's violent behavior paid off for him and was rewarded by his mother, he is now faced with the dilemma of deciding when and if violence can be appropriate.

Heroes - Thursday February 6th, 2014

You have read stories about Frank Serpico a police officer, Wilma Rudolph an Olympic runner, and Martin Luther King a civil rights activist.  Even though all three had very different careers, they all have one thing in common and that is they are considered heroes.  Your mission will be to post a blog entry detailing why each person is considered a hero and for your final paragraph I would like you to write about what characteristics all three had in common.  Make sure to provide support from the stories to support your response and feel free to comment on other students responses.

For an extra challenge:  Include Ron Clark when detailing why each person is considered a hero.
